FUROSHIKI

Students will use the fabrics they keep  to create the eco friendly Japanese carrying bags, furoshiki. Examples posted by the Japanese Government to promote this craft. Other examples of how to wrap furoshiki. Students will be asked what they could wrap and carry in their daily lives. They will experiment wrapping in class.

Extend: Putting design out into real environments

Cureton students will vote on designs to present to the Alum Rock Village Business Association. The designs chosen by the ARVBA will become banners for the street of Alum Rock Avenue.

Guidelines for submission created to match the Office of Cultural Affairs requirements:
HPA students designs could find expression as banners to hang in their class, in the library or along road on school grounds.
